Aims & Philosophy
Art is not just for the 'gifted', but for 'all' at Plymouth College. It is taught in a controlled and structured manner with clear aims for each task made known to the pupils. Our philosophy sees art in school as a broad and humanising subject which through its language teaches intellectual and emotional discipline, concentrating stamina and motivation.
Course Content
All areas of study in Art and Design are taught, including drawing, painting in all media, graphic design, photography, textiles, etching, screen printing, block print making, theatre design and construction, ceramics, sculpture, architectural model making and the history of art.
Resources
The department is based mainly in The Arthaus, which has two studios.  A third studio has recently been established in the Art Basement.
Photography

Both art studios have darkroom facilities and photography is offered at GCSE, AS and A levels, following the OCR Art & Design syllabus.
