engage with ICT for two periods per week, with 1 period per week
in Year 9. The teaching is designed to make every pupil competent
in the many essential ICT skills, so that these can be used for
their benefit in subject lessons and later on in coursework.
Years 7 - 9:
Cross-Curricular
Information and Communication Technology In addition to the
specialist ICT courses offered in Years 7 - 9 it is expected that
pupils will be encouraged to make appropriate use of the ICT facilities
in the context of every academic subject.

GCSE Information

opt for the two-year GCSE in Information and Communication Technology.
The course follows on naturally from the ICT expertise gained
during Years 7 - 9. Pupils study the technology used in the management
of information and make use of information and communication technology
in a range of sophisticated tasks. The coursework component accounts
for 60% of the marks, the written examination for 40%.
The Sixth Form:
AS level ICT is an option
in the Sixth Form and this can continue in the Upper Sixth as
A level ICT. There is also an opportunity to receive training
and testing to gain the European Computer Driving Licence - a
basic skills qualification which is recognised in sixty countries.
